I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is the fifth in the Kovac and Liska series. Though it would be nice if you read the prior books, it is not necessary as you can quickly figure out the relationships.
It starts out with two different cases, one is a cold case for Liska and the other a gruesome new killing for Kovac. Each of these experienced detectives have new partners, and the interactions between the sets of partners contributes greatly to the story.
Two complex cases alternate, but are woven together very well. Even with the alternating story lines, I was kept interested in each.
There is a lot of profanity, and gory scenes, but it works with the characters personalities.
As things move along Kovac and Liska occasionally run into each other and share things about their respective cases. There are a lot of characters, but they are not really hard to keep track of.
It is a good read, like most of those from Tami Hoag.
If you read this, let me and the author know what you think.
