I received this collection of science fiction short stories for free, direct from the author for review.
It was an “uncorrected proof”, so your experience might differ.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a collection of sci-fi stories, and a few poems. While I do like sci-fi, I am not all that enthused about short story collections, so this took me a while to read, as I had to read one and then go read something else to let my mind digest what I had read.
The first group of stories were space related. The first Solo For Multiple Instruments immediately caught my attention and had me totally engrossed right from the start. The others in the group were also very good though short.
The second group Mermayds, the Species were well written but did not suit me. Just not something that interested me.
Next comes the Alien Earth group. These take place here on Earth, and even the light steam-punk stories were good.
Alien Worlds of course take place on worlds other than Earth. Surprisingly for me these were not my favorites. Perhaps it was because of being too short to really show an alien culture.
The author notes that some of these come from earlier works, and intersperses writing prompts throughout.
Even if you don’t care for sci-fi, you need to give this well written story collection a try.
This is the first of anything I have read from this author, but not the last.
If you read this short story collection, let me and the author know what you think.
