This weekend my wife and I celebrated our fortieth wedding anniversary.
In typical male fashion I didn’t try to find out what the gift for such an anniversary should be.
On Friday, my wife casually mentioned that she had looked up what the traditional gift is online. She also said she was sorry that shed didn’t get me anything, as it turns out the traditional gift is a ruby. I told her not to worry about it because, as usual, I didn’t get her anything either. (We normally do not exchange gifts for anniversaries, nor birthdays.)
This is when my mind leaped into gear and said to me: “What is something I can get for her related to a ruby?”
What I came up with, on such short notice, was to take her to a nearby Ruby Tuesday for dinner.
What do you think? Should I have just not done anything, or should I have done more?
What do you think I should do for our fiftieth anniversary in ten years? With that much time to plan, I am open to all suggestions.
