King Leo called upon his three closest heirs, to bring him the mythical moon gem, thinking he would be rid of them for a while.
Several years later Rian, the youngest, with a dramatic flourish, presented him with a highly polished piece of faceted glass, claiming that he had found the moon gem.
Leo’s eyes widened, and his pulse quickened, upon seeing the simple beauty before him. Little did he know that Rian had hidden a drop of clear poison on the point of a facet.
As Leo held the supposed gem higher towards the light streaming through the chamber windows to admire it, his brow became slick with sweat and he collapsed, dead on the spot.
Rian is now king, as he had come upon the others in their futile quest and killed them both. His first proclamation was that there could be no shiny objects in his presence.
Don’t let your passion about something make you reckless enough to need a miracle to escape the consequences.
