As I tried to blend in with the background, using the paint pump containing a camouflage mixture, meant to foster invisibility, I heard the distinct sound of a pistol being cocked.
Before I could run, or drop to the ground, the drunken fool pulled the trigger.
The bullet must have lodged in the barrel, as it burst into a seven pointed star shape. I guess the camo worked too well, or maybe he was too drunk to see me down the range.
When I cleaned myself up, and confronted the shooter, he told me he was trying to see if his 38 caliber pistol would take a 45 caliber round.
I don’t know who was more stupid, the shooter or myself. I probably shouldn’t have tested being invisible at a gun range, but then again, no one else should have been there.
Do not use firearms when under the influence.
