As I was sitting in my chair, with my mind starting to drift off, my granddaughter asked, ” Can you help me grow these tomato plants to be vertical?”. Then she showed me the pieces of plants, lying horizontally in the tray.
I replied, “These are plastic tomato plants. But, this is a timely question, as I was just thinking about growing some tomatoes myself. Let me check it out some more and we can plant tomatoes later.”.
“OK!”, she said, and went out to play.
I put the plastic tomato plants in the dumpster. Two weeks later we went to the store, bought real tomato plants, and she was happy to help with the garden.
You don’t have to be crazy to help young people understand things, but it helps sometimes.
