This is in response to the 09JUN11 Booking Through Thursday question (see the section below asterisks for more about Booking Through Thursday):
All things being equal (money, space, etc), would you rather own copies of the books you read? Or borrow them?
As I hardly ever read the same book twice, my answer is that I would rather borrow books than own them.
That said, I do buy second-hand books at yard sales and flea markets on occasion, if they look like something I might want to read, for when I can’t get to the library, or can’t find anything at the library I want to read.
Also, the books obtained second-hand, rotate through my family and a small group of reader friends, then get donated to America’s Moms For Soldiers.
I have been an avid reader since I was a child, and like the idea of sharing with others.
