The following is my submission for the March 16, 2011 Three Word Wednesday prompt http://www.threewordwednesday.com/2011/03/3ww-ccxxxii.html, with the three words from the prompt bolded.
Barry was feeling pretty mellow as he sat under the eucalypt tree. A slight breeze was causing a little tickle in his nostrils, but it was not very distracting.
All of a sudden, he remembered that he needed to give a lecture the following evening and started to panic. When he lifted his head to stiffle a sneeze, he saw a koala in the branches. This reminded him of the story of Kay the koala, he had read the other day on Creative Copy Challenge. (see http://creativecopychallenge.wordpress.com/2011/03/14/writing-prompts-creative-copy-challenge-126/ for the story.)
Barry didn’t have a specific topic scheduled, so he decided to make it about how to research a topic and prepare a lecture, based on the story and its moral. As he had his laptop beside him, he started working on the lecture right away while the inspiration was still fresh in his mind.
He actually started the lecture off by reading the story of Kay the koala. The lecture was a big success, in part because of the story, and his method of using similar stories to make his points. In fact, he was asked to do another lecture the following month.
You never know when, or where, inspiration will strike you. But, when it does just run with it.
