Newspaper Article Genre:
The category 5 hurricane Jonathan, swept in to town, with very little notice. Just yesterday it had only been a tropical depression, and only just barely.
The initial impact was frightening. First landfall occurred at 1AM, so most were unprepared, figuring it was going to be just a rain and wind event, similar to the normal summer afternoon storms.
The methane clouds were more menacing than usual. Gwando was feeling claustrophobic, and having a hard time breathing, even though he was wearing his full suit with helmet and breathing apparatus. It must have been just his mind working overtime, as there was no way the methane gas could be causing any breathing problems.
Gwando looked out over the landscape and was surprised to see some type of large animal calmly grazing on the violet covered grass. They seemed to resemble pictures of a brontosaurus he had seen in an old earth video (Jurassic Park).
William: “What do you want to do tonight?”
Billy: “I don’t know. What do you want to do?”
William: “I asked you first.”
William: “But, I don’t know what I want to do.”
Billy: “Well, neither do I.”************
Jack walked up to the front door, holding a rapidly dimming flashlight and wearing soaked through clothes. When he crossed the threshold, the first thing he saw was the body. At least he thought it was the body. It was hard to tell, as just the torso was left.
Millie, the current coroner, noticed Jack’s arrival and went to greet him. “Jack” she said, “can you give me a hand here, or even a foot? Sorry, just a little coroner’s humor there.”
“That’s alright, I understand completely. This is a hard sight to handle” ………
